Work is gaining pace on the £200m New Square shopping and leisure scheme, while the A41 Expressway underpass is also moving forward.
The New Square scheme is being developed by Spenhill, the regeneration division of Tesco and will open in the town next spring.
The centre, off Cronehills Linkway, will be anchored by a 144,000 sq ft Tesco Extra when it is completed.
It will also include a 36,000sq ft eight-screen Odeon cinema and 1,900 car parking spaces.Shoe retailer Deichmann, Harvester restaurant and Phones 4 U are the latest to sign up to the scheme, following confirmed tenants Primark, Next, JD Sports, Bank , Arcadia, Nandos and Prezzo. Meanwhile, the £25m A41 underpass scheme is taking place beneath the roundabout where the A41 Expressway meets All Saints Way. It is scheduled to open in late summer next year.
The scheme aims to cut congestion at the roundabout, next to West Bromwich fire station, which is one of the borough's busiest junctions, carrying 63,000 vehicles a day.
Work has been funded by £22.2m from the Department of Transport while supermarket giant Tesco is contributing £2.2m.
Councillor Derek Rowley, welcomed the progress on both of the schemes, which will transform the gateway into West Bromwich.
He added: "We believe New Square will alter the retail fortunes to the town and attract many people who perhaps have never visited us.The scheme is a vital part of our ambitious regeneration plans and will vastly improve the look and feel of West Bromwich."
