Locals in Oldbury were awoken to a fire understood to have started at a windows manufacturing factory - this is being investigated.
West Midlands Fire Service said emergency services were first alerted to the blaze shortly after 5:30am and were called out to the scene.
A total of 10 fire engines were at the scene.
West Midlands Fire Service has advised locals to keep their windows shut and the road is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day.
Area Commander Gemma McSweeney said: “The smoke in the area will be spreading around. It's quite a windy day today. That's the advice we say to residents — keep the windows and doors closed where you can.”
Resident Ranesh Bhutta said: "I was awoken up at about 10 to 5, with loud noises. It was just popping off everywhere. Looked out the window and it was just a massive fire everywhere.
"I was extremely worried, didn't know what it was whether it was a house or whether it was a factory.
"Out of our window we couldn't really tell it was a factory. And I was just concern it was one of the residents' houses on the estate.”
