Jazz and free bites on offer at pub in support of Birmingham city centre festival

A city centre pub will become a jazz club for a lunchtime session

A Birmingham city centre pub is set to become a jazz hub as a group plays a lunchtime set.

The Queens Head pub on Steelhouse Lane is gearing up to support the Colmore Jazz Festival and on Wednesday (July 29) the pub will play host to the popular group Django Chutney.

The Queens Head is located on Steelhouse Lane, on the site of the old Jekyll and Hyde pub and is part of Davenports Brewery’s British & Best collection of pubs.

Popular with residents of the Colmore Business District, the pub also boasts an outdoor Guinness Terrace.

Pub owner Davenports said it hoped the show, which is taking place between 12.30pm and 2.30pm, will transform what is usually a ‘hump day’ lunchtime into a midweek treat.

The pub will also be serving up some free bites whilst customers enjoy the free live entertainment by Django Chutney, described as a “virtuosic gypsy-jazz 'manouche et trois’”.

Katie McPhilimey, Davenports brand and marketing director, said, “Wednesday is notoriously a tiresome day of the week, what better way to liven up your lunchtime than free jazz and free canapes whilst you enjoy it?

“Hopefully, customers will be buzzing when they head back to the office.

“Customers should pitch up early, because the free bites are sure to be popular, and when they are gone, they are gone!”
