A £300m build-to-rent development has been completed in Birmingham delivering 722 new homes to the city.
The scheme has transformed the site which had been undeveloped for more than 70 years, creating a new residential neighbourhood between the Jewellery Quarter and Colmore Business District.
The Makers Place project has taken place for more than six years, with the development securing planning approval in 2020 and then beginning construction in April 2023.
The development was completed by Moda Living, the UK's largest privately owned property and construction businesses, and Apache Capital, an investment manager and operator specialising in residential rental real estate. Alongside Sisk, a construction service which employs over 3,000 people.

Johnny Caddick, Chief Executive of Moda, said: “Seeing a brownfield site that stood undeveloped for more than 70 years transformed into a new neighbourhood in such a fantastic location is amazing, and a testament to the ambition, commitment and hard work of everyone involved.”
“We've built a strong relationship with Birmingham City Council over many years, and Makers Place is a great example of what can be achieved when the public and private sectors work together to unlock challenging sites,” said the chief executive.

During the construction, 789 people were employed for six months or more including 57 people who had previously been unemployed for more than a year and 39 apprentices completed their apprenticeships on the project.
Ger Hayes, managing director of Sisk shared that “the completion of Makers Place is a significant milestone” with their project facilitating “362 people with roles.”
