Poundbakery stores in the Black Country closed abruptly with staff reportedly made redundant
The shutters have been pulled down on branches in Wolverhampton and Dudley
Poundbakery stores in Wolverhampton and Dudley have closed their doors abruptly, with staff reported to have been made redundant.

The shutters have been pulled down on branches in Queen Street, Wolverhampton, and High Street, Dudley, with no official comment from the nationwide bakery chain, which offers a popular £3 breakfast deal and budget sandwich platters.
Social media posters have shared footage of shuttered branches, telling how staff were given just a few hours’ notice of the closures.

Poundbakery has been contacted but has not responded to requests for comment.

Google lists both bakeries as permanently closed and the Poundbakery website shows an error message when searching for branches in Dudley and Wolverhampton.
Cakes and drinks could still be seen on shelves inside the shuttered Wolverhampton branch on Sunday (September 6).
Other news outlets have reported the recent closure of Poundbakery in Newcastle-under-Lyme. A notice pictured in the window said the branch was closing for good on August 27 and redirected customers to the next nearest outlet in Hanley.
