Popular Wolverhampton city centre pub offers brand new experience after extensive transformation

A popular Wolverhampton city centre pub has reopened its doors to customers after undergoing an extensive transformation to turn it into a vibrant entertainment hub.

The Hogshead on Stafford Street has reopened following a six-figure investment by owners Stonegate Group, unveiling a brand-new food and drinks menu as part of its transformation.

It was officially reopened on Saturday, with DJ Niel Jackson spinning tunes until the early hours, while Sunday saw a special Q&A and meet and greet with Wolves’ legend, Steve Bull.

The Hogshead underwent the extensive three-week renovation after closing at the start of January, which has seen it completely redecorated, with brand-new state-of-the-art lighting installed throughout.

The refurbishment has also made the bar the home of pub sport in Wolverhampton, with all the major sports channels being shown on the venue’s HD TV screens.

New booths equipped with HD TVs have been built for those looking to get a close-up view of the sporting action, while larger screens have been installed around the bar.

A new sign designed by Wolverhampton University student Grace Imray has been installed on the outside and pays homage to Wolverhampton rock band, Slade, with the new colour scheme representing the glam rock fashion movement of the time.

The reopening also marks the debut of a brand-new food and drinks menu, with the food menu featuring the likes of cheesy Detroit pizzas, while the drinks menu will see the addition of a new and improved cocktails menu, which is 2-4-1, all day every day.

The new drinks menu will also offer craft and world beers, ciders and a drinks deal on Thursdays with generous deals available on crafts and cocktails, plus no and low alcohol options for those not drinking.

MiXR users can also unlock exclusive rewards at the Hogshead by downloading the MiXR app and creating an account, including a free drink just for signing up and students can also take advantage of special discounts available exclusively through the app.

Sarah Lathwood, General Manager of the Hogshead, said: “These renovations align with Stonegate Group’s commitment to keep improving and innovating, meaning we can give our guests the best possible experience at our pub.

“We want this investment to make our pub the go-to destination in Wolverhampton, not only for watching the best sporting action on our big screens, but also for enjoying delicious food and drink at great prices.

“Our new food and drinks menu means we now have an unmatched selection of world beers, ciders, and cocktails, which I believe is the best offering in the area, and just wait until you try out our new Detroit Pizza range.”

The pub hosts a variety of food and drink deals throughout the week, including the popular 2-for-1 cocktail offer all week and bottomless brunch at the weekend and a new weekly events schedule has been announced, beginning with a biweekly open mic night on Tuesday, Wingman Wednesdays, and Speed Quiz on Thursday nights.

On the last Friday of every month, a special live musical act takes to the stage, while on Saturday nights, a local DJ will be playing club classics.
