Police search prompts precautionary lock-in at Willenhall schools

The precautionary advice was issued to schools in Willenhall after a man was allegedly ‘acting suspiciously’ in the area.

Schools in Willenhall were advised to keep children on site while police searched for a man reported to be acting suspiciously in the area.

A number of officers were deployed across the area on Thursday afternoon (June 4) following the reports, with police carrying out extensive searches and speaking with members of the local community as enquiries got underway.

The precautionary advice was issued to local schools while officers worked to locate the man. However, despite a thorough search of the area, police were unable to find him.

As a result, schools were later informed that it was no longer necessary to keep children at school and normal arrangements resumed.

Police said they are aware of several social media posts relating to the incident and have urged members of the public not to contact them simply to report information already circulating online.

Officers will continue to maintain a visible presence in the area into the evening while enquiries to identify the man continue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police, quoting log number 3237.
