Two police officers successfully find missing five-year-olds at major Midlands event

Search and rescue volunteers leapt into action too

Two police officers successfully found missing five-year-old children at a busy event in the Midlands.

PCs Dave Olczak and Wayne Waldron from Malvern Hills Police service successfully found two separate missing five-year-old children at the Three Counties Show on Saturday (June 13).

The force said the two officers were patrolling the Three Counties Showground in Malvern when they were approached by a family of a five-year-old girl who had gone missing.

The parents had taken a photo of their daughter prior to entering the showground - something that police highly recommend parents do when ever going out with their young children.

PC Olczak stayed with one of the parents to take details, whilst PC Waldron liaised with the show staff and security.

Further police resources were drafted into the showground and members of West Mercia Search and Rescue, who were manning a stand, also jumped into action.

The Three Counties have a dedicated missing child team who also assisted.

The girl was found safe and well, and was reunited with her parents.

The force added that a couple of hours later the same two officers were approached by a dad of another missing five-year-old.

The little boy was found swiftly very close to where he had wandered off. Malvern Hills Police said: “He was happy as Larry looking at the tractors.”
