Plans to demolish Black Country school and create new site given go-ahead
The new school building will be a two-form entry primary school for 420 pupils with a 33 FTE place nursery class and a 43-place designated SEND unit.
Plans to demolish a school in the Black Country have been given the go-ahead, with a new site to be created.
Wolverhampton Council has given the Department for Education (DfE) the green light to demolish old school buildings, erect a new building, multi use games area, car parking and more at Stow Heath Primary School, on Hill Road in Willenhall.

The decision notice published on the council's website on Friday granted permission for the development, in accordance with approved plans and drawings.
The new school building will be a two-form entry primary school for 420 pupils with a 33 FTE place nursery class and a 43-place designated SEND unit.
The design and access statement, submitted with the planning application, says: "The existing buildings no longer meet the spatial or pedagogical requirements of contemporary education, and their condition presents significant limitations in terms of safety, accessibility, and operational efficiency.
"The proposed new school will address these deficiencies, providing sufficient capacity to meet current and projected demand, and delivering a high-quality learning environment aligned with modern standards."

It continues: "The new building has been designed to incorporate inclusive, adaptable spaces that support a broad range of learning styles and needs, in line with current best practice for SEND provision.
"This includes improved accessibility, sensory-friendly environments, and dedicated support areas.
“The educational opportunities this will unlock for young people with additional needs are substantial and should be afforded considerable weight in the planning balance.”
The school teaches pupils from reception class to year six. The school also has a nursery for children aged six months to five-years-old.
