'One of our wolves is missing' Fallen wolf statue is taken away to be repaired after it comes down overnight
One of the iconic running wolves statues in Wolverhampton came down overnight and has been removed for examination and repair
It was one of three wooden wolf sculptures unveiled on the A449 Stafford Road in Wolverhampton six years ago to mark the £6.8m city north gateway scheme close to Wolverhampton Business Park.

Thousands of motorists on the busy stretch are used to the iconic statues as they make their way into or out of the city but one was missing this morning (Thursday).
Dog walker Stewart Kendrick was on his normal route last night when his pooch Frank found the statue on the ground.
This morning it had been removed, with just a stub of wood in its place.

Stewart said: "Frank was doing what all dogs do last night, having a sniff, when he came across the wolf on the ground.
"Then this morning I took him out around 6.30am and it had gone, with just the other two in place. "
A City of Wolverhampton Council spokesperson said it was thought the statue had come down due to erosion or natural causes.
A statement said: "Our fantastic running wolves statues are a popular sight along the A449 and we are saddened to see one of them is currently not standing.
"We have temporarily taken the sculpture away to assess the extent of the damage and give it some TLC."
