45. A modern addition to Ablewell Street
The new Methodist community hall nears completion along Ablewell Street in Walsall in January 1961, standing alongside Central Hall and neighbouring businesses such as F. H. Reckless & Son and Alecia ladies' fashions. Featuring a prominent brick cross flanked by large multi-pane windows and modern storefronts, the fresh development provided a welcoming hub for local church groups and social gatherings. The street scene offers a wonderful snapshot of early 1960s town life, complete with classic cars parked along the curb and a passing cyclist.
