Business as usual at Birmingham Airport as no new flight cancellations

There had been nearly 20 flights cancelled at the airport this week after a major airline axed flights.

It’s business as usual at Birmingham Airport so far today as no flights are scheduled to be cancelled following several days of disruption.

There had been nearly 20 flights cancelled at the airport this week after a major airline axed flights to help save on jet fuel.

Earlier this month Lufthansa said that it would cancel 20,000 short-haul flights that were scheduled until October as part of efforts to save on jet fuel costs.

It comes as many airlines continue to struggle with potential fuel shortages and higher prices due to the war in Iran.

The cuts are recognised as being rolled out across the airline group’s six main hubs: Frankfurt, Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Brussels and Rome.

According to the airline group, 120 flights are cancelled due to fuel-saving processes each day.

Several airlines, including KLM-France and Delta, previously also temporarily cut a number of flights, while other airlines instead raised ticket prices to pass the expenses on to customers.

Full details of departures and arrivals at Birmingham Airport can be found on the airport’s website.
