New Kinver hair salon to host grand launch party this weekend

A newly-opened hair salon in Kinver, South Staffordshire, will be throwing open its doors for a grand launch party this weekend.
Tanzy Jayne Skelding opened her Demeter by Tanzy hair salon in Chenevare Mews around two months ago after giving the empty shop unit a complete makeover.
The experienced hair stylist has been in the industry for more than 17 years and after freelancing in Kidderminster for the past six years she decided to go for it and open her own business.
She opened the doors in August and the new venture, which specialises in sustainable products and hair care, has already been welcoming new and established clients.
“We've been so lucky. I've been building my clientele up for years but I'm so lucky that all my ladies have followed, and we've been getting quite a few new ones, which is really nice to see,” Tanzy said.
Mum-of-one Tanzy, a colourist and established hair extension specialist, has named the salon after her little boy Dimitri.
She said: “It's actually the female version of Dimitri - my little boy’s Dimitri - but it's also a Greek goddess of fertility and harvest. It’s all about women empowerment, so we love that.”
The luxurious salon is all about “minimal vibes” and “little comforts”.
Tanzy, aged 32. said: “I just really wanted it to be really comfy for all my girls and be able to get up and have a snack if you wanted, or a nice coffee with proper beans. So just all the little luxuries that a girl wants.”
The salon specialises in hair extensions, blonding, balayage and bespoke treatments.
Tanzy, who hails from Stourbridge and now lives in Kidderminster, said she started in the industry as a Saturday girl at the age of 14 and “never looked back”.
“I just fell in love with the job, I fell in love with making women feel beautiful.”
Hair stylist and friend Kirby Brewer works alongside her in the salon and there are plans further down the line to open up chairs for rental to other hairdressers.
A celebratory launch party, complete with a bar, canapés and goody bags, will take place at the salon this Saturday October 17 from 6.30pm to 9pm.
