New flavours and warm welcome at refurbished Wolverhampton pub
The pub has undergone a major refurbishment to become a Desi pub.
The owner of a Wolverhampton pub given a new look and new life has said he is excited to welcome the public.
Deepak Poutel and his team have worked to transform the Yew Tree Inn on Oak Street into a modern-looking Desi pub which combines a wide range of drinks with a large selection of Indian and Nepalese cuisine, including the Desi pub classic mixed grills.
Mr Poutel said it had been a busy time since he and his team took over the pub in December last year, but had been a good experience so far.

He said: “We took it over last December and started doing the refurbishment work, working through until March to get it ready before having a soft opening at the end of March.
“The pub is great because we have a lot of parking, with up to 80 vehicles able to park outside, plus it’s only about five or six minutes walk from the city centre, so it’s easy for people to get to.
“The community are great as well as the locals are so friendly, including some who have been drinking here since it opened in 1976, and it’s set in such a lovely and location.”

Mr Poutel said the pub had been set up to have separate food and drink areas, meaning that customers wanting to just drink had their own area, while there was also a large and dedicated area for eaters.
He said the response to the menu and the refurbishment had been great and said he was looking forward to welcoming people to the Yew Tree Inn.
He said: “The reception has been great, with a lot of people who have been here telling us how great it is and spreading the word for us.

“We are still working on the pub, getting the garden ready for people to enjoy, but the restaurant and bar have been well received by people.
“I would say that people will be made very welcome when they come down and they can bring their families and have a great time.”
