New dawn and new look for Wordsley pub as it reopens following extensive refurbishment
It's a new day and a new look for a Wordsley pub as it reopens to the public following an extensive refurbishment.

The Glassworks pub officially reopened on February 6 after undergoing a three week, £290,000 refurbishment by Marston's which has revitalised the pub on Audnam Road.
The work has given it a new look both externally and internally, with a newly created bar-area and a dedicated family lounge among the new additions to the pub, as well as an updated frontage.
General manager John Griffiths said the pub looked like a completely different place and spoke about some of the changes made.
He said: "It feels like a totally different place to what it was, as it used to be one big, open room pub which went back to the Generous George days and which had been like that for about 12 years.

"It's been completely refreshed and looks really nice and I honestly can't believe the changes that have been made to the place, so I think it's going to be very well received by the community as well.

"We've got the new separate family lounge, which continues our historic community base as we've always been seen as the family food place in the area to go to, but that doesn't mean you can't pop in and have a drink as there will still be that as well."
Among the new updates at the Glassworks include more 4K big-screen TVs, with Sky Sports and TNT Sports being shown on every screen, while a darts oche has been installed and a brand new pool table.

Mr Griffiths said the aim was to make it a modern pub with some old-fashioned touches and also make it a place where a variety of people can come in.
He said: "We're not going back to an old-world type of pub, but we do have separate family and bar areas and we have installed an 85 inch high definition screen, which doesn't make us a sports bar, but more a bar with sports.

"We've got a darts oche and have started a darts team, which is something I've wanted to build for a long time and now can as the oche is in a great location in its own bar, plus we have the new pool tables and I think we have something for everyone."
The Glassworks also has an updated food menu, which includes pub classics and pizzas, alongside the kids’ menu; with little servings of pub favourites for Over 5s and a ‘build-your-own’ option for Under 5s.

The pub will also continue to serve its popular traditional Sunday Roast, with guests able to choose between roast beef, turkey or chicken, complete with mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, homemade Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, and gravy.
