'We want to see new landlords' - MP calls for answers over future of boarded-up Wheaton Aston pub
The pub, a listed building in the heart of the village, ceased trading on May 26
An MP has called for action to bring a boarded-up Staffordshire pub back into use and demanded reassurance that it will not be used to house asylum seekers.
Sir Gavin Williamson has spoken out over the future of The Bradford Arms in Wheaton Aston, which has remained closed since shutting its doors earlier this year.
The pub, a listed building in the heart of the village, ceased trading on May 26, with a message posted on Facebook at the time thanking customers for their support.

Now Mr Williamson has called on the owners to explain what is happening with the building and said he wants to see new landlords brought in to restore it as a community pub.
In a video posted on Facebook, Sir Gavin said: "The Bradford Arms here at Wheaton Aston sits abandoned. It's a listed building yet the pub company has it all boarded up.
"We want to have answers as to what its future is going to be. We want to see new landlords going into the pub, people caring for it and investing in it, making sure it is the hub of a community once more.
"So I am asking for reassurances from the owners that it is not going to be used to house asylum seekers, it is going to be brought back to being a pub once again, and it's going to be done quickly."
The Bradford Arms closed suddenly in May, while sister venues The Bell Inn in Stafford and The Navigation Inn at Gnosall remained open.

No reason was given for the closure at the time, although it was understood that owner Stonegate Group was keen to see The Bradford Arms reopen as a going concern.
Announcing the closure on Facebook, landlady Hannah Darrall described the venue as being "more than just a pub".
She said: "With heavy hearts, we announce the closing of The Bradford Arms.
"We would like to sincerely thank all our customers, friends, and colleagues for your continued love, support, and unforgettable memories throughout the years.
"It has truly been a pleasure serving you all. The Bradford Arms was more than just a pub, it was a place for family meals, celebrations, laughter, friendships, and memories that will stay with us forever."
