'Good wasn't good enough' - beloved eatery at Merry Hill is set to re-open under different name
Beloved brand set to remain under new name
A popular Merry Hill food stall which many customers thought had closed for good is set to re-open next month with the ambitious owner determined to grab a large pizza the action.
Napoli, an Italian eatery which sat in the Eat Central area of Merry Hill's upper mall for 17 years, is currently being transformed into Slice House, an 'artisan pizza joint’ run by the same team as before.
John Morgan, the co-founder of Slice House, has been posting TikTok videos showing the transformation of signs, tills, ordering system and flavours of pizza, with the whole unit having been ripped apart ready for the new era.
Napoli was previously known for its pizza, pasta, garlic bread and dozens of toppings, with the new pizza joint set to harbour the same style of pizzas as before.
John said: “A lot of people think Napoli has gone - it hasn’t but we are rebuilding the whole thing and ripping out what didn’t work.
“It will mean new flavours, a new ordering system, new screens, new look.
“People ask me why we are shutting something that was working, re-opening and re-branding - and I reply ‘because good wasn’t good enough’.
“The pizzas will be of the same quality, the team will remain but we are taking it to the next level and when we re-open you will see the difference.”
Hoarding can be seen around the former Napoli unit in John's videos, with clips of workers getting stuck into renovations shown online.
He also shared the signs and menu boards customers may have once associated with Napoli that are being changed, with a new 'self-serve' feature set to be installed too.
Jonathan Poole, centre manager of Merry Hill said: “We’re excited to confirm that Napoli, a much-loved and strong performer within Eat Central since 2009, is set to reopen as Slice House in May.
“Bringing a new concept to its existing space, Slice House will offer an upgraded menu featuring customer favourites, including pizza by the slice and value meal deals, and a variety of new items – with further opening plans to be revealed soon.”
