Fibbersley Park Primary in Noose Lane replaces Clothier Street, Little London and Lakeside schools which are being closed by Walsall Council due to concerns over falling pupil rolls and some crumbling facilities.

Pupils were taught on the three separate sites and since September 2006 have attended under the Fibbersley Park banner.

Fibbersley Park head Joanna Austin said 495 children aged from three to 11 will move into the new school on September 6.

Mrs Austin, former head of Little London, said: "People have been in these schools for many years and there is some sadness at the closure. However, every single person is absolutely thrilled and excited with the new site."

Today Education Walsall said the former headteachers of Lakeside and Clothier Street had continued to work in education.

Spokeswoman Claire Clews said: "The vast majority of staff will transfer to the new building in September. No compulsory redundancies were involved."
