Meet three adorable cats in West Midlands looking for their forever homes - could you be their purr-fect match?

Brenda, Darcy and Serena are some of the animal centre’s ‘longest stays’.

Three adorable cats, who are full of love, are waiting for their forever homes in Shropshire as the RSPCA continues to face a capacity crisis.

Brassy Brenda, Serena and Darcy are at RSPCA Gonsal Farm Animal Centre in Dorrington, near Shrewsbury, and are each awaiting their forever homes.

They have been patiently waiting for a combined 116 days.

The appeal comes as the trio have had little - or no interest - from potential adopters and as the animal welfare charity continues to face a capacity and rehoming crisis.

Kennel and cattery supervisor Alice Batchelor-Reynolds said: “Sadly Brassy Brenda, Serena and Darcy have had little interest so far, and we’re not quite sure why, as they will each make wonderful additions to the family.

“They each have very different temperaments and are so loving in their own special ways.

“We are continuing to see record numbers of cats entering our care. Across the RSPCA we began 2026 with a higher number of cats than in each of the previous five years - 1,280 cats across England and Wales.

“We responded to 1,752 mass cat incidents last year, almost five every single day and 13 of these incidents involved more than 100 cats.

“As well as urging potential owners to adopt a rescue cat - like Brenda, Serena and Darcy - instead of shopping for one, we urge cat owners to neuter their pets to help stop unwanted breeding, as this exacerbates the problem amid the ongoing capacity and welfare crisis.”

Brassy Brenda has been looking for a home for 52 days and is four years old.

“Brassy Brenda is a highly confident feline who decides exactly when she wants attention, usually right when you are trying to do something important!” said Alice.

“We are looking for a patient, 'cat-savvy' household that can respect her boundaries.

“Once she is fully unpacked and decides you are acceptable, she will spend her days in the garden sunbathing, butterfly-hunting, and will give you her main character energy.

“Brenda came from a home with more than 50 cats so she is looking for experienced owners so we feel children would need to be 14 or older. Brenda is really one of a kind and we can’t wait for her to find her forever home.”

Serena also came from a multi-animal home and has sadly had little interest since she has been looking for a home - which is now totalling at 35 days.

Alice said: “At four-years-old Serena found our cattery a bit overwhelming when she first arrived.

“However, with a quiet resilience that has moved us all, she has blossomed. Her beautiful, gentle personality has slowly woven its way into the hearts of everyone who meets her.

“While she may start as a shy shadow, it doesn't take long for Serena's true self to shine through. In the sanctuary of her bed she will quietly ask for the fuss and affection she so deeply craves.

“Serena is gentle, chatty and resilient and we just know her perfect match is just waiting out there for her.”

Serena could live with another friendly cat and will enjoy access to a garden once settled.

Finally, one-year-old Darcy has been looking for a home for 29 days.

“Darcy loves fuss and attention and isn't afraid to use her vocal cords to remind you of that!” said Alice.

“Darcy is looking for a garden to patrol, partly for the fresh air, but mostly to ensure the local community knows who is actually in charge.

“If you are looking for a sweet, charmingly needy, and incredibly purr-suasive addition to your family, Darcy is the one for you!”

Darcy could live with a neutered male cat, with children of secondary school age, but with no dogs.

To express an interest in the cats mentioned above or any of the other cats at RSPCA Gonsal Farm Animal Centre that can be found on Find A Pet, people should fill out an online application form.
