I visited a stunning medieval market town in the West Midlands and enjoyed a sangria by the river.

I visited a stunning market town in the West Midlands that is very popular for a day out and a place that I visit often due to its scenery and tranquility.

Stratford-upon-Avon is the perfect market town for a day out. There are shops, cafes, restaurants and you can take a lovely stroll alongside the River Avon.

There are always lots of people milling about as there is a lot to do. You can visit the Butterfly Farm or even watch one of the highly-acclaimed theatre shows at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

One of my favourite things to do when I visit is enjoy a sangria by the river in the sunshine.

The Barge and Quarterdeck serves pizzas and drinks from a traditional Dutch barge, and you can sit outside and take in views of the River Avon.

You get beautiful views of Stratford, can watch everyone else go by, all while enjoying a nice drink. I particularly enjoy a sangria here when the sun is out as it makes you feel like you are not in the West Midlands!

It is one of the only places in the town to catch the sun all day whilst enjoying a drink or two and a pizza if you fancy. It is the perfect spot - and particularly good on a bank holiday weekend.

And here is a top tip. You can park at Fisherman’s Car Park which is located just outside of the town and walk into the centre.

The car park gets busy, especially at the weekends, so it is best to get there early. But just a short walk from the car park and you are at the river, with fields to sit on and even enjoy the views from there.

A lot of people paddleboard from this spot and have picnics. You can walk from here into the town centre which takes no longer than 10 minutes.
