Fortunately, Mr Hanif’s friend suffered minor physical injuries but is still recovering from the loss.
Mohammed Ali also collided with another car, seriously injuring the driver.
Ali, aged 27, of Robert Road, Birchfeld, was taken to hospital where he also verbally and physically assaulted a police officer. He was arrested and later charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assaulting a police officer.
The driver pleaded guilty at a hearing in Birmingham Crown Court last month and was sentenced yesterday (April 17) to seven years in prison and banned from driving for four years and six months on release.

A statement from 32-year-old Hanif's wife was read out in court: "That day my life changed forever. I lost my soulmate, my son lost his daddy, his parents lost a son and his brothers lost their big brother.
"I don't understand how one minute life was perfect, and then it wasn't. This should never have happened. I have no peace and I'm living on autopilot.
"My son didn't have enough time with his daddy and that's not ok. No child should have to experience grief so young. I am struggling to figure out how i live in a world without him beside me.
"Hizar was everything to our family. A loving husband, a devoted father, son, brother and the heart of our family. His loss is something we will carry with us for the rest of our lives."
