Major discounter confirms it'll close all its stores on Boxing Day - what do you think?
“Christmas is a special time for our customers” - Aldi
Aldi has shared it’ll close its West Midlands and Shropshire stores for Boxing Day 2026.
This is in line with previous years, and it is so that staff can have additional time off.
The discounter shared that they want staff to have a “proper chance to rest” and “switch off”.
Meaning, Aldi will be closed on three days over the festive period: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Rachel Geary, Communications Director at Aldi UK, said: “Christmas is a special time for our customers, but it is also one of the busiest periods of the year for our teams.
“Our colleagues work incredibly hard to ensure customers can pick up everything they need ahead of the big day.
“We never take that effort for granted. Closing our stores on Boxing Day is one way of saying thank you and giving colleagues a proper chance to rest, switch off and spend more time with the people closest to them.”
