'No reason why': Parents shock as West Midlands nursery announces sudden closure

Parents and carers of children who attended Little Folks Nursery were informed over the weekend that the nursery would close its doors due to 'operational circumstances'.

The nursery is located on Edward Parry Centre, Coventry Street, Kidderminster DY10 2BP.

In an email which has been seen by the Express & Star, the nursery informed parents and carers that the school would be closed.

The email had informed parents at the weekend that the school would not re-open on Monday,  March 16 2026. 

The message stated: "We are writing to inform you that, due to current operational circumstances, Little Folks Nursery will unfortunately not reopen from Monday 16th March 2026. This decision has not been taken lightly, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and upset this may cause to you and your family. We understand how difficult this news is."

One parent told the Express & Star: "My son attended the nursery. We received an email (lucky enough I check these daily) on Saturday 14th March informing me the nursery has closed and will not be reopening, to contact local authority for alternative childcare.

"No reason why the nursery was closing, for a parent this is extremely worrying! The staff at little folks were amazing I couldn’t fault their efforts. I often received an incorrect invoice monthly which I had corrected myself. 

"I had contacted the nursery just last week regarding a month notice as I was moving my son to my daughters school Nursery at the end of April but couldn’t even receive a weeks notice of closure of the Nursery. Thankfully, I have been able to contact my daughters School nursery and managed to get my son into the Nursery with such short notice due to the circumstances I've been left in."

We have approached Little Folks Nursery in Kidderminster for  further comment on the matter.
