In unusual mid-winter conditions, a blanket of snow covered Wolverhampton Racecourse yesterday as trainers and jockeys prepared for another all-weather fixture.
James Fanshawe’s Augustus Gloop — impressive on his third start — remained the headline pick in the Bet £10 Get £40 With BetMGM Handicap, impressing observers while two local foxes watched calmly near the far rail.
Early heats saw Roserunner, fresh off a Lingfield win, take warm support in the opener, while Sovereign Wealth looked set to break his placing streak in the Best Odds Guaranteed Novice Stakes.
At Southwell, veteran Glory Fighter showed a return to form, and Holbache and Seeing Stars both featured in competitive handicaps.
Spectators braved the snow, with wildlife adding an unexpected touch to winter racing.
