Meredith Teasdale will leave the authority at the end of October to take up a role as strategic director of children’s services in Cornwall.

Ms Teasdale was the council's third education chief since the post was created in 2013, having succeeded interim director Julien Kramer.

Councillor Dr Michael Hardacre, cabinet member for education, said: “While this new opportunity is wonderful news for Meredith and her family, we will be extremely sad to see her leave Wolverhampton.

"Meredith has successfully led and transformed the education and skills service here over the last two years.

"She has successfully delivered a number of significant achievements and improvements across education and skills, this has positively improved outcomes for children and young people across the city.

“We are considering options with regards to the future leadership arrangements for the education and skills service and we will be keeping schools and other key stakeholders informed.”

Ms Teasdale becomes the latest high profile departure from the council, after former managing director Keith Ireland left last year.
