Walsall Road crash: Cyclist injured after being hit by car in Willenhall

A cyclist suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Willenhall.

The man in his 20s was taken to Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The crash happened in Walsall Road at around 12.30pm on Friday.

He suffered arm and leg injuries and was given pain relief at the scene before being taken to hospital.

An ambulance, paramedic officer and critical care car attended.

Buses had to be diverted as the road was blocked while medics treated the injured cyclist.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and a cyclist. We treated a man in his 20s for arm and leg injuries.

"He was immobilised, given pain relief and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital."

Walsall Police tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a collision in Walsall Road, Willenhall. This is causing congestion so please avoid the area where possible."
