Crash causes major damage to Pelsall bridge
A crash involving two cars has caused "significant damage" to York's Bridge in Pelsall.
The bridge on Norton Road, owned by the Canal and River Trust, forced engineers to close the street in both directions across the weekend – it is not known when it will reopen.
Canal and River Trust structural engineers have said reopening will be determined once all structural assessments have been completed.
The crash, which happened on Friday afternoon, caused major damage to the parapet of the bridge.
Two cars were involved in the collision – which led to a substantial hole in the side of the bridge.
