Revd Preb Carl Ramsay, the vicar of Pelsall at St Michael and All Angels Church, has had to step away from his duties as a reverend as the investigation goes ahead.

He is also Prebendary of Eccleshall and the Rural Dean of Walsall.

The Diocese of Lichfield confirmed that Mr Ramsay had "agreed to step back" from his duties following a complaint.

The nature of the complaint is not known.

A diocesan spokesman, Pete Bate, said: "The Revd Preb Carl Ramsay has agreed to step back from all ministerial duties following a complaint against him.

"This is a neutral act while the complaint is investigated. We are not able to go into any more detail while this investigation proceeds."
