South Staffs Water are currently repairing the burst main on Stafford Street and temporary three-way traffic lights are in place.

Is it the same stretch of road which saw roadworks for just over three weeks when a collapsed sewer caused the road to give way on May 21.

Nathan Harper, network operations manager at South Staffs Water, said: “The leak in Stafford Street, which occurred this morning, does not appear to be linked to the sinkhole.

"When we backfilled the sinkhole, we carried out daily checks and there was no visible leak. This leak is likely to have been caused due to the current dry conditions creating movement in the ground.”

South Staffs Water have been asked how long the repairs will take.
