Motorcyclist left with serious injuries after Rugeley hit-and-run - police appeal for information

Staffordshire police are appealing for information after a motorcyclist was left with serious injuries after a crash with a car that didn't stop.

Officers responded to the scene at around 5.15 on Friday (July 4) on Penkridge Bank Road at the junction of Marquis Drive. 

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to hospital having sustained serious head, facial and torso injuries. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

It is believed a black Volkswagen Golf was involved in the crash, but fled the scene towards Cannock.

A 41-year-old man, from the Cannock area, handed himself in to police a short time later and was arrested on suspicion of failure to stop at the scene of a collision.

Police say he is due to be interviewed in connection with the collision later this week.
