Former Staffordshire Police officer in court for fraud offences

A former Staffordshire Police officer has appeared in court charged with fraud and data protection offences.

Darren Oakey appeared before Cannock Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Oakey, 50, is charged with two counts of fraud by false representation, committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice and obtain/disclose personal data/information contrary to Data Protection Act.

Oakey, of Sayers Road, in Stafford, is alleged to have committed the offences while he was a serving police officer.

He entered no plea during the hearing at Cannock Magistrates Court on Wednesday. His case has been sent to Stafford Crown Court for a date to be fixed.
