Man fights for life after couple injured in Tipton motorbike crash

A man is fighting for his life after a crash involving a motorbike and two pedestrians in Tipton last night.

The pedestrians – a 40-year-old man and his partner a 39-year-old woman - suffered "multiple serious injuries" in the crash, which happened on the A461 Horseley Heath at around 9.35pm.

Police say the 40-year-old man's injuries are "possibly life-threatening".

They were taken to hospital in Birmingham, while the biker, a 28-year-old man, was treated at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

The scene of the crash at the junction with Leech Street was cordoned off by police for several hours in the aftermath of the collision but so far no arrests have been made.

Three ambulances were sent to the debris-strewn street along with officers from West Midlands Police.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: "One of the pedestrians, a 40-year-old man, has suffered possible life-threatening injuries. The 39-year-old woman, his partner, has injuries to her leg.

"The motorcyclist, a 28-year-old man, suffered a fractured shoulder.

"We are now appealing for any information, anyone who saw anything or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward as soon as possible."

Anyone with information can call police on 101 referencing incident 2775 of September 26.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman added: "A man and a woman, both pedestrians, were treated for multiple serious injuries at the scene and were transported to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham for further treatment.

"The motorcyclist, a man, was treated for potentially serious injuries and taken to Russells Hall Hospital."
