Tributes after death of Oscott councillor Keith Linnecor

Tributes have been paid to long-serving Great Barr councillor Keith Linnecor who died last night age 64.

Councillor Linnecor, who covered the Oscott Ward for Birmingham City Council – which included areas of Great Barr – died last night.

He was also chairman of the Friends of Queslett Nature Reserve.

He has been a councillor for the ward since May 1996.

Leader of Birmingham City Council Ian Ward said: "Very sad to learn that my friend and colleague Keith Linnecor sadly passed away last night.

"Keith was a good man and one of the hardest working councillors in the city, working tirelessly to represent the people of Oscott for almost 25 years. He will be sadly missed."

West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner David Jamieson added: "Keith was an excellent councillor who served the people of Oscott for many many years.

"A community champion who will be deeply missed. My thoughts are with his friends and family."
