'We are delighted!' Secondary school near Stourbridge joins multi-academy trust

The Wordsley School on Brierley Hill Road officially joined Stour Vale Academy Trust on June 1.

The trust already runs a number of primary and secondary schools across the Black Country including Redhill School and Ridgewood High School in Stourbridge, The Oldbury Academy and Moat Farm Junior School in Oldbury.

Prior to joining the academy, The Wordsley School, which teaches pupils aged between 11 and 16, was a community school and was therefore maintained by Dudley Council.

Headteacher Ashley Weatherhogg said: "We are delighted to say that the Wordsley School officially became part of the Stour Vale Academy Trust as of June 1. 

"The decision was made after careful consideration by the governing body, reflecting our shared belief that joining a locally successful and well-established multi-academy trust will provide our students with enhanced educational opportunities and support our staff in their professional development.

"Stour Vale has a proven track record of success in school improvement and we are confident that this partnership will help us to build on our existing strengths and achieve even greater things.

"Being part of Stour Vale is already providing our staff opportunities to work closely with other schools in the trust, allowing us access to expertise and resources in a variety of areas. 

"Working collaboratively with like-minded and successful schools, both in the primary and secondary sectors, is a real positive for us.

"As a value-led organisation like ourselves, we believe that Stour Vale is the perfect fit for us. We are confident that joining Stour Vale is the right decision for Wordsley and we look forward to a bright and successful future together." 

Stour Vale CEO Rachel Salter added that she was "delighted" The Wordsley School had joined the trust.
