Police probe after 'acid' thrown at men in van

Two men suffered serious burn injuries after 'acid' was thrown at them while they sat in a van in Stourbridge.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the junction of Wollaston Road and High Street, Amblecote, at around 10.30am today.

Wollaston Road, where the incident took place, was closed off after a minor crash which happened after the suspected acid attack.

Analysis will be carried out on the liquid as part of a police investigation.

It is understood it could be an acid-type substance.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police are investigating after a potentially hazardous substance was thrown at two men while sat in a van on Wollaston Road.

"The men have been taken to hospital with serious burn injuries as enquiries continue to establish the circumstances around the incident.

"The road has been closed following a minor collision which resulted after the attack."
