Bricks and bins were left scattered over the garden after the Ford Focus lost control on Colley Lane in the early hours.

The car was left a damaged wreck and the driver had to be cut free by the fire service. Police and ambulance teams were also called to the scene.

Residents were given a shock when the car smashed into the wall at around 4am. The driver is believed to have been taken to hospital.

A woman who lives nearby, and did not want to be named, said it was not the first time a car had crashed into the garden.

She said: “I have now had two cars through my garden, next door has had a few but this one was the worst yet. It’s beyond a joke now.

"The house usually shakes when it happens and my daughter came in and said there had been another crash.

"The ambulance came straight away and fire crews had to cut the driver out.

"We had to spend all day clearing away the glass and cleaning up."
