Man charged after armed police respond to 'imitation firearm' incident in Birmingham city centre
A man has been charged after police responded to reports of a person with a gun in Birmingham city centre.
West Midlands Police was called to Edgbaston Street at around 9.15am on Tuesday (January 6) and sent armed officers to the scene within minutes, swiftly arresting a man and recovering an imitation firearm.
Jamie Robotham, 38, was subsequently charged with possession of an air weapon in a public place.

Robotham, of no fixed address, was due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
A statement from West Midlands Police read: "Although it was an imitation firearm, we understand the concern this may have caused.
"City centre officers are on duty and there for you 24 hours a day, we have additional patrols taking place this morning – and anyone with concerns should speak to them."
