Man in hospital after being hit by bin lorry in Birmingham

A man in his forties has been rushed to hospital with 'potentially serious injuries' after being hit by a bin lorry in Birmingham.

The incident occurred at the junction of Aldridge Road and Holford Drive in Perry Barr at around 7.30am this morning (June 30).

Motorists were warned of delays in the area due to the incident earlier today. Road closures remain in place while police carry out investigations.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to the junction of Aldridge Road and Holford Drive at around 7.30am to reports someone had been hit by a lorry.

"A man in his 40s was taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries. The driver stopped and spoke with officers at the scene."Road closures remain in place as our investigation continues, and we would ask people to avoid the area."

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a lorry and pedestrian at the junction of Aldridge Road and Holford Drive at 7.25am.

"One ambulance attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was the pedestrian. He was treated for injuries not believed to be serious before being taken to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital."
