'We're sorry but there will be cancellations' - Rail operator warn strikes will disrupt trains from Birmingham
Train passengers using Cross Country trains from Birmingham are facing disruption to services due to industrial action this week.
The operators said customers should expect "short-notice" disruption on services between Birmingham New Street and Nottingham until Wednesday (June 11) as a result of planned industrial action by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) affecting a number of roles including train managers and senior conductors.
The action is being taken on weekdays and Saturdays until October, meaning more cancellations than usual over this period.
The company said the union's members were not allowed to work overtime or on days they are not rostered to work.
It said the restrictions on when train managers and senior conductors can work will mean an increased number of short-notice cancellations on its network.
Cross Country’s service delivery director Richard Morris said: "We’re sorry to customers who will be disrupted by industrial action. While we’re working hard to run as many services as possible over this period, we know there will be more cancellations than usual across all routes from June 9.
“I’d ask those planning to travel to check their journey in advance, as well as on the day. Customers can visit the Cross Country website or National Rail Enquiries for the latest travel information.”
