I visited the West Midlands town voted least hospitable in the UK - here's what happened
Is Walsall really that unfriendly?
The West Midlands is often seen as one of Britain’s friendliest regions - but new research suggests the welcome may not be quite so warm if you carry a toolbox.
According to research from Vanaways, Walsall has been named the UK’s least hospitable town for tradespeople, with one in four residents admitting they never offer workers a drink. Curious to see whether the town really deserved the title, I headed there to put its reputation to the test.
The response was mixed. Many people we approached refused to speak to us altogether, brushing past without a word, while only a handful stopped to chat about whether they would offer a tradesperson a cuppa, and whether or not they could believe that Walsall was handed such an unwanted title.
So is Walsall really as unfriendly as the survey suggests? Watch the video above to find out.
