'Help us to find Millie': Search goes on for beloved cat who fled during huge Stourbridge wildfire

Millie has been missing since the fire and a further appeal has been made for help finding her

An animal welfare campaigner has issued another appeal for help to find a cat which fled its burning home during the devastating Stourbridge wildfire.

Susie Pitt has put out the fresh appeal as she and other members of the Central England Animal Search & Rescue (CEASaR CiC) work to find Millie.

Ms Pitt said the long-haired black and white cat was last seen fleeing her home on Quarry Park Road during the wildfires on Thursday, August 13, along with two other cats.

She said that while Poppy and Dexter had been found and safely returned, there was still no sign of Millie.

She said: “We’ve been helping the owner to search for them and managed to catch Dexter the other day, trapping him up near her house, while Poppy was found in a flower pot outside the house.

“She also had the third one, so we’ve located three out of the four, but we’ve been working to find the last one in Millie.

“We have been working alongside the owner and the community to find Millie and the owner said she was being told to leave the house by the firemen and saw Millie on the fence, running away from the fire, so we’re hoping she’s just fled the scene.”

Ms Pitt said she had been putting traps down with food to tempt cats in areas identified by people, saying that was how she had managed to locate and trap Dexter and return him to his owner.

She said she was holding out hope to find Millie, but asked for help from people in the community to spread the word about the missing cat.

She said: “We’re hopeful, but it’s hard as there’s no sightings as of yet, so what we’re like is for people to share the social media posts and be aware that she is a long haired cat, because we have some sightings of shorter haired cats.

“If anyone wants to deliver leaflets to spread awareness, then they can get in touch with us and we can tell them where to go to hand out these leaflets.”

Anyone who can help is asked to call 07715 375574 or 07535 703025.
