Hednesford resident ordered to pay £788 after drinking in Cannock town centre
The man was found consuming alcohol in Market Place, Cannock
A 45-year-old man from Hednesford has been sentenced for breaching a public spaces protection order (PSBO) in Cannock.
The man was found consuming alcohol in Market Place, Cannock on October 10 last year, despite alcohol-related restrictions being in place under the PSBO.
Following enforcement action by Cannock Chase District Council, the case was heard through the single justice procedure at magistrates court earlier this month and the defendant was found guilty of the offence.
The court ordered him to pay a £100 fine, along with a victim surcharge of £88 and prosecution costs of £600.
Councillor Georgina Jeffery, portfolio leader for community safety and wellbeing, said: “Public spaces protection orders play an important role in helping us address anti-social behaviour and maintain a safe environment for everyone who lives, works and visits Cannock Chase.
“We will continue to take action against those who fail to comply with these restrictions.”
