Coronavirus: Latest updates as as 24 more deaths confirmed in region

Work continues at the new temporary NHS Nightingale Birmingham Hospital at the NEC, which is being built to provide care for an increased number of patients requiring treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic

The latest figures mean the total number of death for the Black Country, Staffordshire and Birmingham now stands at 772.

A further 765 people who tested positive for coronavirus have now died in England, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in the country to 7,248.

It came as work gathers pace to open the new Nightingale Hospital at Birmingham's NEC this weekend.
