Gorgeous dog Betty Spaghetti looking for her forever home after spending majority of her life at Midlands rescue centre

A gorgeous lurcher dog is looking for her forever home after spending the majority of her life at a Midlands rescue centre.

Betty Spaghetti, gorgeous six-year-old Lurcher, is hoping to find a slice of the quiet life, with confident owners who can give this enthusiastic pooch her forever home.

Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity, currently has hundreds of dogs, just like Betty, in its care who are patiently waiting for the right homes.

The charity is appealing to people interested in adopting to come forward and meet some of the long-term dogs in kennels, in the hope of finding the perfect match.

Having been handed over to the charity as a five-month-old puppy, Betty's journey has been anything but smooth, as she has struggled to adjust to new homes and unfamiliar dogs.

But thanks to extra support from the Dogs Trust team, Betty has shown that she can be the life and soul of the party and, once settled, will show you just how adventurous she can be, before curling up for a snooze on the sofa.

Betty has spent more than five and a half years in the care of Dogs Trust Loughborough, but wants a forever home with loving owners.

For Betty to thrive, Dogs Trust Loughborough is looking for a specific home with the following requirements:

  • Betty is looking for an adult-only home, where she can be the only pet, helping her to settle into a new environment at her own pace.
  • Betty can be wary of strangers and unfamiliar dogs, so would benefit from a house set back from the road in a quieter area or street.
  • Betty would like access to a secure, private outdoor space where she can relax and explore.
  • Betty does have some ongoing medical needs, which will be discussed in detail with prospective adopters.
  • Most importantly, Betty is looking for adopters who will take the time to get to know her and build a strong bond before adoption, visiting the rehoming centre multiple times, so Betty and her potential adopters can get to know each other first.

Céline Di Crocco, Manager at Dogs Trust Loughborough, said, "Betty is a wonderful pooch, who is looking for confident adopters who are willing to take the time to get to know her, and help her settle into home life at her own pace.

“Betty is a great example of a dog who will thrive in the right environment and, with a routine and the chance to enjoy a quiet life as a 'normal' dog, will soon show off her wonderful personality.

"Betty has been with us the majority of her life, and along with so many of our other dogs, has been overlooked for too long and is more than ready to find her forever family. If you think your home and lifestyle meet this lovable, enthusiastic pooch's rehoming criteria, we'd love to hear from you."

While details of Betty and other dogs available for rehoming can be found online, the charity is encouraging potential owners to visit the centre to see the dogs, meet the team caring for them and ask any questions they may have about adopting.

Dogs Trust Loughborough is open to the public five days a week, and you don't need an appointment to visit, see dogs looking for homes, get advice or apply to adopt.
