Demonstrators gather with flags and play music outside Wolverhampton hotel
A large number of people could be seen outside the hotel during the demonstration
There were flags and banners spread across the front of a Wolverhampton hotel building as a demonstration took place.
Around 20 to 25 people could be seen outside the front of the Goldthorn Hotel in Penn Road on Saturday afternoon (June 27). Fences were covered in flags from across the United Kingdom.
Slogans including “Stop the Boats” were visible on flags and one man speaking through a loudspeaker said: “Wolverhampton is proud to be anti-communist.”

Songs including Land of Hope and Glory and There'll Always Be an England were played over a speaker outside the hotel, which has been used to accommodate asylum seekers.
Police were also present at the scene, near the crossroads with Marston Road and Oaklands Road, with at least seven officers on the junction and several more observing the protest from across the busy road.

The demonstration was organised by West Midlands Resistance, Patriots of Wolverhampton and Cannock Patriots, with t-shirts of all three groups visible among the group.
A message on social media said: “Wolverhampton, say it clear, local voices matter here.”
West Midlands Police was approached for comment and told the Express & Star: “We were aware of the protest and had an appropriate policing plan in place."
