The gateway to Dudley faces more disruption
One of the Black Country’s busiest roads is to close for up to nine days starting next week while resurfacing work is carried out.
The A4123 Birmingham New Road and New Birmingham Road into Dudley town centre will close at night starting Monday (June 22) while the work is carried out.
Surrounding roads will also be closed, and a diversion will be put in place.

The closures are around Burnt Tree junction, one of the major gateways to Dudley, which has been a congestion blackspot in recent months while separate roadworks to create new bus and cycle lanes have been taking place.
All closures will take place between 8pm and 5am.

The work will be carried out in two phases, the first affecting the northbound carriageway, from the Castlemill office block off Birmingham New Road, through Burnt Tree junction, through New Birmingham Road as far as Regent Road, Tividale. During this phase, Birmingham Road will be closed in both directions, along with Castlegate Drive and Bunns Lane.
The second phase of the work will be focused on the southbound carriageway, from Birmingham New Road opposite the entrance to Tesco, across Burnt Tree junction, continuing along New Birmingham Road to the junction with Walford Street, Tividale.
Traffic will be diverted via Castlegate Island and Tipton Road during for the duration of the works.
