'Full of life and a heart of gold': Emotional tributes to West Midlands stabbing victim

Ayden Cooper’s family have spoken of their shock at their sudden loss after the 25-year-old’s death.

The family of a man who died after being stabbed in the car park of a Sutton Coldfield pub have paid tribute to him.

Ayden Cooper was found with serious injuries in the car park of the Beggars Bush pub on Chester Road in the early hours of Sunday, October 11 and, despite the best efforts of people at the pub, nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

West Midlands Police said it was carrying out a thorough investigation and detectives had been reviewing hours of CCTV and speaking to people who were there at the time.

The family of the 25-year-old have paid an emotional tribute to a man they described as a happy lad.

The tribute read: “He was a son, brother, husband, uncle, and father to two beautiful children.

“Ayden was full of life and had a heart of gold and just a few weeks shy of his 26th birthday and we never thought as a mother and father we would be burying our son at such a young age.

“We are all still in shock and this is very difficult and devastating time for our family.

“We ask that anyone with any information comes forward.”

Detective Chief Inspector Samantha Lewis, from the West Midlands Police Major Crime Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with Ayden’s family and loved ones, who are being supported and kept up to date by specialist officers.

“This was a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life, and our investigators are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances around what happened and who was involved.

“It’s vital that anyone who was in the area around the pub at the time, or who has any footage or information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, shares it with us.”

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “Local officers remain in the area, as we understand how concerning this is to the community.

“They are ready to listen and act on any concerns you may have.
