Flood alert put in place as Staffordshire river levels rise

The Flooding Service said there could be flooding on land and roads near the rivers due to higher river levels.

Residents living near two Staffordshire rivers have been warned of possible flooding.

The Flooding Service has put out a flood alert for River Sow and River Penk, saying that flooding could happen due to the higher river levels being caused by heavy rainfall in the area.

“Flooding may affect low-lying land and roads adjacent to the River Sow between Great Bridgeford and Shugborough, the River Penk between Coven and Stafford, the Sandyford Brook, the Rising Brook, the Ridings Brook and the Saredon Brook.

“We are closely monitoring the situation monitoring rainfall and river levels.
