One killed as crash shuts M6 stretch in the West Midlands

One person died in a crash between an Asda lorry and a car on the M6 in the West Midlands today.

The vehicles collided near Junction 10 for Walsall at around 6.30am. One person believed to have been in the car died, while the lorry driver was assessed at the scene and did not need hospital treatment.

The victim's age and gender have not been released.

The accident shut the carriageway until just before noon, but there were tailbacks until just before 1pm.
