'Too often, we've had to say no - but not anymore' - Oldbury primary school shares 'delight' over new £12,000 minibus
A primary school situated in Oldbury has expressed 'delight' after they have raised enough funds to get access to its very own school minibus.
The school shared that they have raised £10,000 from donations and fundraising and the minibus had a cost of £12,000.
On a recent Express & Star visit to the Burnt Tree Primary School in Oldbury, headteacher, Jayne Bayliss was pleased to get into the driving seat of the school's new minibus. The primary school has 466 pupils, between the ages of three and 11, according to its deputy teacher, Matt Brazier.
Burnt Tree Primary School has around 446 pupils from Nursery through to Year 6.
After months of fundraising, through a mixture of a GoFundMe page, Christmas Fair and 'Break the Rules' Day school event for pupils and many community donations. The Oldbury school was finally able to purchase a good quality minibus for its pupils.

On its GoFundMe page, the primary school shared its importance of getting a minibus as it had previously meant that they've had to say "no", to a lot of opportunities for the children.
It read: "Our pupils are surrounded by incredible opportunities such as museums, sports clubs, local organisations and community partners who are eager to welcome them and enrich their education. But too often, we have to say no. Not because the children aren’t excited. Not because the opportunities aren’t there.
"But simply because we cannot afford the travel costs. Each time we turn down a visit, a workshop or a community event, we know a valuable experience is being missed: a spark of curiosity, a new passion, a moment they could remember forever. This year, we want to change that."

The Oldbury school was delighted to unveil the-new bus to parents in late February.
Matt Brazier, deputy headteacher at Burnt Tree Primary School shared the good news: "I am delighted to share some wonderful news from Burnt Tree Primary School. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our parents, local businesses and the dedication of our School Council, we have successfully raised enough funds to purchase a school minibus!".
In terms of the school's reputation, its quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; leadership and management and early years provision were all rated as 'good' according to the latest OFSTED school inspection which had taken place in November 2024.
Matt Brazier shared that the school is seen as a "diverse and inclusive" school and is proud of its "welcoming environment"
He also said, "Visitors often comment on how polite and well-mannered our pupils are and how bright and exciting the school feels when you walk through the doors".
